Initial Ideas For Our Film
When my group was informed of what our task was this year, we came up with a few different initial film ideas that we decided we would try and turn into realistic options for our Final Production. Obviously, we realised most of our ideas would be incredibly difficult to actually go through with what little production value we have to work with and considering the area in which we live but we thought we could at least use some ideas to take things from for when we do decide on a final story. These were the best ideas that we came up with in my opinion:
AS Continuation story:
Our very first idea involved trying to build on what we had for our last project for AS Media in which we made a short 2 minute opening for a film (as mentioned previously). Obviously, straight away we realised that this plan was both unrealistic and probably not allowed! Not only that but our story from last year was very closed off. It would be rather hard for the story to be progressed onward from where we left off. Other than that, we felt our story from last year wasn't really ambitious enough for an A2 project and could be improved on greatly, especially with the equipment we intended on buying for this year's project.

Hit and Run story:
Our second idea was semi-prompted to us by our teacher. She encouraged us to try and think of a round story in which we could perhaps make our last scene the same as our first in a mysterious or surprising narrative. From this, we came up a plot that involved a father having a premonition of him answering his door to the police before heading off to work followed by him going off to work like a usual day. On the way back, however, he would get a phone call or something along those lines in which he would receive information that forces him into rushing home. From there we were planning on having him hit someone who would be silhouetted out but carrying on rushing home instead of stopping to help. The story would end with this man sitting nervously at home for a few moments before the door bell going, him answering to the police (same scene as from the premonition) and finding out that his daughter/son has died in a hit and run accident.
Despite this being an ambitious idea, which is what we really wanted, we thought it would be perhaps a little too difficult to go through with purely because of the requirements in the actual accident scene. It would be very difficult to get a quiet road that we could shoot an accident repeatedly from different angles. Not only this but actually filming the hit and run would be immensely difficult and there was always the risk that a member of the public might end up calling the police if they were to misconstrue the situation. Finally, we were very conscious of just how cliche doing dream sequences/flashbacks were and we felt that doing a premonition scene might end up being counter-intuitive in making us look lazy by re-using scenes/shots.

Romantic Music Video:
The final idea came from me watching the music video for "Promise" by Kid Ink and Fetty Wap. From this, I came up with the idea of using the same sort of storyline but with a different song. For example, we'd have a starting clip (without music) of the male talking to his girlfriend about going out for the night instead of staying in with her. As he leaves, we'd have the girl call her friends to keep an eye on him whilst he goes out. The music comes in and then we'd go on to the various scenes. From there, each scene would involve something incriminating like, for example, the guy having dinner with a very attractive woman and one of the girlfriend's friends reporting back on the phone to her about it and other scenes similar to that. Then, toward the middle and end of the video, the guy would explain what was really happening to the girl and then end up proposing. To take the earlier example of the dinner with the attractive woman in to the equation, the scene would flash back to the moment that the girlfriend's friend left to inform her and it would show that the guy was really on a dinner to discuss venues and dates for the wedding he had planned. The other scenes would also turn out like this and then the very last scene would be the end of the song as the girlfriend apoligises and says yes to marry the guy.

Although this was a cool idea, it was very risky and bordering on plagiarism. Despite it being a different song, we would have no doubt had to credit the idea as an inspiration from the "Promise" music video which would then lead to our teachers (and no doubt the examiners) questioning how original our idea was. Not only that, but finding a song to match the mood and/or action would actually be very tough and getting enough actors & actresses to perform for us would definitely have been a struggle!
